Fight Away Your Morning Sickness!

A pregnant woman generally feels nauseous in the early morning which is called morning sickness, but the nauseous feeling can possibly occur anytime during the day. Whereas there are few ways that cut down the morning sickness feeling:

  • Eat while on bed: When you wake up in the morning, don't come out of the bed immediately. Eat a dry toast, a plain cracker or cereal before you step out of the bed. Doing this will help you to control your nausea feeling.
  • Take protein before sleeping: Before you go to bed, take some high protein small meal, this will help in keeping the blood sugar level stable and will keep a check on morning nausea.
  • Avoid heavy meals: Food that are rich in oil and fats are not the good choices at this time as they are difficult to digest and that can also lead to heartburn and eventually turn into nausea.
  • Take small meals: In spite of eating three heavy meals in a day, eat 5-6 small meals. The higher progesterone levels during pregnancy slow down the movement of food in our intestines, that gives us a fuller feeling for a longer period of time.
  • Intake more carbohydrates: It is suggested that carbohydrates also help with morning sickness. Complex carbohydrates such as potatoes, apples help in soaking up the excess of stomach acid that can trigger nausea.
  • Don't take vitamins on empty stomach: Always take your prenatal vitamins with your meal. If it is taken in empty stomach, then it might create more nausea.
  • Delay Iron supplements: If you are not anemic, delay your iron supplements for the second till the second trimester or till your nausea finishes. Iron is said to increase vomiting in such cases.
  • Take more rest and sleep well: Lack of sleep contributes more morning sickness. Try to sleep 7-8 hours at night and a small nap during the daytime.

By following all these things, you can definitely help yourself feeling better and less of morning sickness.
